FYBIT Credits
FYBIT Credits are the currency of the FundedYouth Portal. You use credits to sign up for classes, workshops, and events. You can earn credits by purchasing credit packs or subscribing to a membership plan.
Your Wallet 💳
Section titled “Your Wallet 💳”Every member has a credit wallet. This is where your credits are stored. Your wallet is created automatically the first time you access the portal.
Your wallet shows:
- Balance — how many credits you have right now
- Transaction History — a record of every time credits were added or spent
Earning Credits by Volunteering
Section titled “Earning Credits by Volunteering”The only way to earn credits for free is by volunteering. Here’s how:
- Sign up for a volunteer timeslot through the portal.
- Show up and complete your shift.
- After the shift ends, credits are automatically added to your account.
The number of credits you earn depends on how many hours you worked. By default, you earn 2 credits per hour.
Getting Credits Through Credit Packs
Section titled “Getting Credits Through Credit Packs”If you’re not volunteering, the way to get wallet credits is by buying a credit pack — this is the only place real money changes hands on the portal.
Credit Packs
Section titled “Credit Packs”Credit packs come in two flavors — one-time and monthly subscription:
- One-Time Pack — Pay once via Stripe Checkout. Credits drop into your wallet immediately. No recurring charge; you enter your card details fresh each time.
- Monthly Pack — Subscribe via Stripe. Stripe charges your card on the same day each month and the credits are automatically added to your wallet on each successful payment. You can cancel anytime from Subscriptions > Credit Packs > My Credit Packs.
All credit-pack purchases (one-time and monthly renewals) are final sale — credits cannot be refunded, exchanged for cash, or transferred. Cancelling a monthly subscription stops future charges, but credits already in your wallet stay yours.
We don’t store your card information on FundedYouth’s servers — Stripe handles all payment processing. For monthly subscriptions, Stripe keeps your card on file in their PCI-compliant vault so they can charge each renewal; the card never touches our database.
Credit packs are purchased through the Subscriptions > Credit Packs section of the portal.
How Memberships Use Your Wallet
Section titled “How Memberships Use Your Wallet”Memberships are paid in credits, not dollars. When you activate a plan:
- The plan’s monthly credit cost is deducted from your wallet immediately (the first month).
- Your membership becomes active.
- Each month on your renewal date, the cost is deducted again automatically.
This means you should keep enough credits in your wallet to cover at least one monthly renewal. If your wallet is too low when renewal runs, your membership lapses (see below).
Bundled Add-ons
Section titled “Bundled Add-ons”Some membership plans include certain add-ons at no extra cost. Bundled add-ons are never charged in credits — even at monthly renewal. They show 🎁 Included instead of a credit cost on your add-ons list.
Admin Adjustments
Section titled “Admin Adjustments”Sometimes a FundedYouth administrator may add or remove credits from your wallet manually. This might happen if:
- You receive a refund
- There was an error that needs to be fixed
- You were given credits for a special event or promotion
How to Spend Credits
Section titled “How to Spend Credits”Session Registration
Section titled “Session Registration”The main way to spend credits is by registering for session events — classes, workshops, bootcamps, and other activities.
Each event has a credit cost shown before you register. When you sign up:
- The portal checks that you have enough credits in your wallet.
- The credit cost is deducted from your balance.
- You’re registered for the event.
If you don’t have enough credits, you won’t be able to register until you earn or purchase more.
Wallet Freezing 🥶
Section titled “Wallet Freezing 🥶”Your wallet can be frozen, which means your credits are still there but you cannot spend them. This happens when:
- Your membership is frozen — An administrator paused your membership for a set number of days.
- Your membership has lapsed — Your membership billing failed or expired. Your wallet is frozen during a grace period.
When your wallet is frozen, you’ll see a “Frozen” indicator on your wallet. You cannot register for sessions or spend credits until the freeze is lifted.
How to Unfreeze 🫠
Section titled “How to Unfreeze 🫠”Your wallet is automatically unfrozen when:
- Your membership freeze period ends and is reactivated
- An administrator manually reactivates your membership
What Happens if Your Membership Lapses
Section titled “What Happens if Your Membership Lapses”If your wallet doesn’t have enough credits when your monthly renewal runs, your membership lapses. Here’s what happens:
- The renewal skips the deduction and your membership is marked Lapsed.
- Your wallet is frozen immediately. You can’t spend credits, but they’re still there.
- A grace period begins. By default, you have 90 days to top up your wallet (buy a credit pack) and reactivate.
- You’ll receive a notification explaining what happened and how many days you have left.
- If you reactivate within the grace period, your wallet is unfrozen and your credits are restored.
- If the grace period expires, your remaining credits are permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
No-Show Penalties ⚠️ 🫣
Section titled “No-Show Penalties ⚠️ 🫣”If you register for a session event or volunteer shift and don’t show up without cancelling in advance, a no-show penalty may be applied:
- Volunteer no-shows — Credits are deducted from your volunteer balance. The penalty is typically 2x the credits you would have earned for that shift.
- Session no-shows — A penalty may be applied to your wallet depending on the event’s policy.
To avoid penalties, always cancel your registration ahead of time if you can’t make it.
Transaction Types
Section titled “Transaction Types”Every time credits move in or out of your wallet, a transaction is recorded. Here are the types you might see:
| Transaction | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Pack Purchase | Credits added from a credit pack you bought (one-time, or a monthly subscription renewal) |
| Membership Renewal | Monthly credit deduction for your active membership plan |
| Add-on Renewal | Monthly credit deduction for an active add-on (bundled add-ons are skipped) |
| Session Spend | Credits spent to register for a session event |
| Adjustment | Credits added or removed by an administrator |
| Refund | Credits returned to your wallet |
| Discard | Credits permanently removed after a lapsed membership grace period expired |
You can view your full transaction history in the Subscriptions > Wallet section of the User Portal.
